To start?
1. Need to sign up for an account (just as a user not as a Magelo gold member). You will need a userid and select a password. Magelo will email you an activation thing. Once you log in, save that link to go back (a cookie will be added). Then every time you go back you don't need to log in. You might also save the email you get from them to remember your userid and password....
1A. On the Magelo home page after Logging in, On the left side Under "EQ Features" click on "Characters".
2. Identify your character (Update this Character) and it's starting stats
- Identify Class
- Identify Name
- Identify Level
- Then identify Base Stats
- Cash and bank stuff are optional items
(To find out base stats you need to be naked with rusty weapons equipped or weapons with no stats on them - fine steel also works. Take a screen shot of your base HPs, Dex, Str, Sta, Resists, etc. Subtract any AA adds - like added Str, Dex, HPs, Mana, etc. - those are your base stats for your naked toon at that level and are based on your skills - e.g., base attack with a 2HS equipped at 250 in 2HS.)
Hit the back button in your browser after saving the changes (Save probably is at the bottom of the window).
3. Then select "Manage his Equipment" for the Character.
4. Click on an Armor/Weapon Slot. A window appears below the Equipment area (there are radio buttons to add equipment or remove equipment - at the end of the Add equipment line is a window to type in) where you can start typing in the name of the piece or armor you have there (e.g., for Blade of War type in "Blade of" and then click the "Proceed" button). This will do a search for the piece of equipment (you get a pull down menu if there are other items with a similar name). Click on Proceed (or something like that) and then that piece of equipment will appear in that slot. Do that for each slot on your character. All the stats from the armor/weapons will now get added to your characters base stats. At the bottom right of the page you need to click on a "Save Your Equipment" link for the armor changes to take place.
5. Once you have all the armor and weapon slots filled you can add Augments to them. To add Augments click on the item and in the description window below the armor window will be a second item in parenthesis that says something like Add Augment. Click on that and it will send you to a scroll down list that lists all possible augments for that slot. It's a huge list and the window doesn't allow a quick short search based on name like it does for equipping a piece of armor in a slot. Once you add Augs you also have to click on the save equipment changes link on the bottom right of the Manage Equipment page to get them updated into your profile definition.
6. The next thing you should do is fill out (Manage) the characters inventory. Here you can add backpacks or items in the 8 inventory slots. If you add a backpack you can then click on it, it will open up, and each slot can then be updated (similar to adding equipment to the character) to include optional armor you have, or food and drinks you use. So you can identify optional weapons you use, or resist gear, etc. Magelo's has the ability to create Alternate Profiles for a character. To do that though it only allows you to swap out items from your inventory into slots on your main character definition. (My magelo has Main and 1HS and AC setups by doing this.)
7. Then you should look on the main Update Equipment window and at the bottom center you can identify the Food and Drink you use. But these have to be items in your inventory - either directly or something from a backpack. Once you identify food/drink you need to save them in the Food/Drink window area
8. Next thing you should do is Update your Characters Skills. These are the skill levels for 1HS, 2HS, 2HB, Tailoring, Brewing, Taunt, Bash, Languages, etc. The weapons skills will be used to calculate you attack with all the adds from Armor and stuff. (Best to take a few screen shots of your skill window and work off them versus trying to write all these down.) There is a save button or link on the bottom of the window. Once you save these you don't need to go back to the main equipment window and update from there (e.g., don't have to save your equipment there). They are automatically accounted for.
9. The next thing is to update your AAs for the character. These are pretty easy. It's a listing of each possible AA for your class and you just identify the level (e.g., for Run Speed put a 3 in the box if you have Run Speed level 3). There is a save button on the bottom of the window. Once you save these you don't need to go back to the main equipment window and update it. They are automatically accounted for. A screen shot of each AA page makes updating this easy.
10. There are also Leadership AA update area and a keys and flags areas that are similar (keys and flags have check boxes to check - once you check some flags others might be made available - e.g. Elemental planes stuff won't show till you have access to them via other flags).
11. To update the Charm from PoP and the LDoN Aug it's more of a hit and miss trial. This is part of your base character definition window (where you enter your newbie base stats and base HPs when Naked). In that window are places for these two items where you have to put in the percentage complete. Then it will calculate the value of the combined Charm for you. For the LDoN Aug the percentage is the Number of HPs or Mana you are getting from the Augment. Say you are getting 23 HPs. Then it's 23% complete. For the PoP charm it's based on the number of flags you have. I think the max value for flags (100% in the box for the percent complete you are at) is like equivalent to 24 or 25 AC from the PoP Charm. AC is a good measure of the number of PoP flags you have (subtract out the LDoN Aug adds for AC though). You might need to experiment with it and see what it gives you for a value of AC. If it is 25AC, and you put in 80% (I think you just enter a value of 80), then that would mean the PoP charm is at 20AC. Take a screen shot of the PoP Charm and the value of the LDoN Aug and work out how it looks in your Magelo Profile.
A couple of other short cuts you can take.
1. On the character you want a magelo made for type in the following to get a text file put in your Everquest directory with all of your equipment (including bank contents).
/outputfile inventory
A file name like:
Rasky-Inventory.txt
is made. You can then open that up and get all the names for all the items you are wearing (and everything you have in your bank). It makes searching for the items in the Manage Equipment area on Magelo a lot easier!!!
2. Create you character and look at the number it is assigned. Using someone else's magelo link, open up that link in another browser window. Then change the ID number to yours and hit enter (numbers are at the end of the web address) to see what your profile looks like. When you make a change and save it at the magelo site, then refresh the other window to make sure it takes (or to see the effect - e.g., when guessing at the PoP Charm stats).
3. If you get a Magelo Gold account (cost some cash) they have a program that allows you to update your magelo profile automatically by requesting the data from EQ directly. I'm not sure how it works. But it probably does something similar to access the data in the /outputfile file directly from the EQ servers. *edit* .. simple you open magelo autoupdate .. then log on to everquest with whichever character you wanna update .. switch windows with alt tab then click synchronize my characters .. ebylyn for me .. enter your magelo account info hit enter and it does everything for you .. never have to get nekkid to look at stats or anything...*end edit*
4. When selecting something that is player made - like some jewelry - the Magelo equipment search sometimes has two of the same items listed. If you click on the red button next to a selected item it shows you the stats. For player made rings and such, where enchanted versions have stats and un-enchanted ones don't, you need to find out which of the two selections in the pull down menu has the stats on it that you have and make sure you put the proper item in your equipment slot.
Good luck....
